Relationship Between Contact Hours and Work Units
Working Units (WU) calculation for courses is based on the number and type of Contact Hours, where the compensation is not based on individual student enrollment or another special occurrence. One (1) Working Unit equals 16 contact hours.
The College distinguishes three (2) types of contact hours: Lecture, Lab and Clinical hours
- 16 Lecture-based Contact Hours are 1 lecture hour. Lecture Hours are 1 to 1. (i.e. 1 lecture hour equals 1 working unit)
- 16 Lab-based Contact Hours are 1 lab hour. Lab hours are 1 to 0.667 (i.e. 1 lab hour equals 0.667 working unit)
- 16 Clinical-based Hours are 1 Clinical hour. Clinical hour are 1 to 0.667 (i.e. 1 clinical hour equals 0.667 working unit)
