Statement of Purpose
The Construction Technology/Management program offers students hands-on training, including instruction in the safe usage and handling of hand tools, power tools, heavy machinery and material handling. Students will gain essential knowledge as they engage in dimensioning, properly identifying construction materials, and using power tools to cutting various types of degrees, angels, and circular objects.
Students will learn about residential construction, and, in addition, will become familiarized with commercial construction components, such as metal studs, suspended ceilings, concrete tilt-up walls, and commercial roofing. Students will also learn estimating for residential and commercial projects.
Upon successful completion of the program, student may earn:
- NCCER Certification
- OSHA 10 Certification
- Level 1 Certificate - Construction Technology
- Associate of Applied Science-Construction Management

Skills and knowledge you will gain

- use, identify, and learn the proper usage of materials, such as 2×4s, plywood, and roofing materials;
- read a tape measure and learn the proper usage of electric hand tools and power equipment;
- read blueprint drawings, estimate material costs, and construct facilities; and
- safely use power tools and heavy machinery.

FAQ
How long does it take to complete the program?
- Level 1 Certificate - Construction Technology: two semesters or eight months
- Associate of Applied Science-Construction Management: four semesters or 16 months
How much time will I need to commit to coursework and assignments?
In this program, 75% of the learning experience is obtained during lab activities and 25% of the learning experience is concentrated on coursework. For each construction technology course, students will spend from 1 ½ hours up to 2 ½ hours in class. Students will also have homework on a daily basis, which will be additional 1 ½ hours up to 2 ½ hours outside of class. Students may enroll in four construction technology classes per semester.
