Statement on Firearms and other Prohibited Weapons
In accordance with the Texas Penal Code, Section 46.03, no person may carry a firearm, location-restricted knife, club, or prohibited weapon 1) on the physical premises of TSC, 2) on any grounds or building on which an activity sponsored by TSC is being conducted, or 3) in a passenger transportation vehicle of TSC, unless pursuant to written regulations or written authorization of the institution. Individuals found in violation will face appropriate law enforcement action/penalty as well as disciplinary action by TSC.
In accordance with Senate Bill 11 (Campus Carry), the TSC President has developed a policy regarding the locations a License to Carry holder may carry a properly concealed and secured handgun. Refer to the TSC.edu web site under “Campus Carry” for clarification of this rule and the exclusion zones.
Firearms
The College District prohibits the use, possession, or display of a firearm on College District property or at a College District-sponsored or -related activity in violation of law and College District regulations.
Other Prohibited Weapons
The College District prohibits the use, possession, or display of any illegal knife, club, or prohibited weapon, as defined by law, on College District property or at a College District-sponsored or -related activity, unless written authorization is granted in advance by the College President or designee.
Additionally, the following weapons are prohibited on College District property or at any College District sponsored or related activity:
- Fireworks of any kind;Incendiary devices;
- Instruments designed to expel a projectile with the use of pressurized air, like a BB gun;
- Razors;
- Chains; or
- Martial arts throwing stars.
The possession or use of articles not generally considered to be weapons may be prohibited when the College President or designee determines that a danger exists for any student, College District employee, or College District property by virtue of possession or use.
Violations
Employees and students found to be in violation of this policy shall be subject to disciplinary action. [See Policies DH, FM, and FMA].
